Our goal is to bring people closer not only to the sea and its surrounding landscapes but also to the special sensations which begin as we descend from the coast and enter the depths.
Makara is a personal project that came about in Dahab, an Egyptian coastal town on the Red Sea. Our aim is to share the beauty of the sea, show the best way to relate to it and transmit the importance of caring and respecting something which needs our help more than ever.
In case you were wondering, Makara is a legendary sea-creature in Hindu culture. Some believe however that, in reality, the makara was a member of the manatee family, which sometimes felt the need to come ashore.

We get lost all the time because we dive like how we want to live. So it is for this reason that we are simply a collective of humans being underwater.

"My professional career began on the island of Malapascua, in the Philippines. It was there where I discovered the passion I have for teaching other people to dive, and that the first experiences we have in the world of diving will determine, to some extent, how we interact with the sea for the rest of our lives.
It was then that I left everything behind to start a new life near the sea. I have travelled and worked all around the world. However, I have now decided to start our personal project in Dahab, in the waters of the Red Sea; a sea with some of the most biodiverse and healthiest corals in the world.”

“My story doesn´t start with an ‘I ´ve had a strong connection with the sea ever since I was a child ’ beginning. Instead, it was only 5 years ago when I decided to give it a chance and everything changed. I also decided to silence that inner voice that says, ‘It is not for you’ and I bought my first camera. And I explored. Today my job is to teach people to relate to the sea in the purest way possible and share the incredible feeling of freedom that this gives: diving and descending slowly within our limits and capabilities. Dahab is one of the most iconic places in the world of freediving since it offers perfect conditions all year round, with incredible visibility and an absence of currents.
I firmly believe that everyone has their place on the path of freediving."
